August 4, 2008: Spiritual and Scientific Vigil to First Nations Sacred Site
In addition to the drumming and burning of sage traditional to First Nations spiritual ceremonies, the vigil, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mungo site across from the Tidewater Pub (10190 River Road – under the Alex Fraser Bridge) will feature a line up of speakers including Hereditary Chief Capilano (Squamish Nation), Hereditary Chief Red Jacket (Turtle Island), Bertha Williams (Tsawwassen First Nation), UBC Archeology Professor Emeritus H.G. Matson, Derrick Whiteskycloud (Metis elder and spiritualist) and representatives from the Gateway 40 Citizens Network and Livable Region Coalition, the large citizens networks fighting Campbell’s Gateway Project.
